You are always spoilt for choice for somewhere to eat out in Harrogate. There are currently 297 restaurants listed on trip advisor, that’s almost one for every day of the year. But which are the most ‘family friendly’ restaurants in Harrogate?
If you’re looking for somewhere nice to eat out in the evening, with kids in tow, things can be a little trickier so I’ve compiled a list of family friendly restaurants in Harrogate, which cater well for children without the adults having to compromise.
Pickled Sprout
We’ve only just discovered this little gem in the town centre. With gorgeous interiors and and amazing adult menu, everyone is bound to be happy with a visit to the Pickled Sprout.
Their kids menu is a very reasonable 2 courses for £9.95.
Vivido
One of Harrogate’s many Italian restaurants but one that’s stuck around for quite some time!

Vivido’s children’s menu is two courses and a drink for only £6.95.
Curious Cow
If you’ve followed us for a while you’ll know the Curious Cow is our local haunt. I think it’s changed hands because it’s not quite as good as it used to be but still has some good offerings.
They've recently put their prices up but the kids menu is still reasonable. Starters are £1.50, Mains £6.29 and puddings are £2.00.
Al Bivio

Al Bivio on Hornbeam Park is popular with families if you’re wanting a fantastic Italian feast, the children’s menu includes a main, pudding and a drink for £11.95.
Cattlemen’s
Cattlemens is also a firm favourite of ours and a fantastic child friendly restaurant in Harrogate. If you haven’t tried their ribs, you need to…immediately.

Portion sizes are great here so if you’re extra hungry this is the place for you.
Their kids menu is a tiny £7.25 for a main and dessert.
Will & Vics
William and Victoria or ‘Will & Vics’ to the locals is a longstanding local restaurant which is as old as me (and that’s pretty old) and unlike some fancy restaurants, happily caters for kids.
2 children’s courses are only £12.00. If it’s been around that long you know they must be doing something right!
Giggling Squid
After a recent visit to the Giggling Squid I had to add it to this list too.
Kids starters are £2.50 and mains are all £9.00 which includes a side of rice. Add prawn crackers for £1.99 and all the desserts are £1.99 too. Caramel and Chocolate lollipop? Don’t mind if I do!
That’s fantastic value, especially for somewhere where there isn’t a chicken nugget in sight.
Portofino
When your kids are a bit older and start ordering from the adults menu it can be a bit of a shock to the system. With this in mind I’ve added in Portofino, they have a great kids menu for £7.95 which includes a main, dessert and drink BUT they also offer ‘Happy Hour’ all day and night Mon-Thu and until 5pm Fri-Sun.
You can get any starter and pasta dish for £15.95 which is great for older kids who take a bit more filling up. (The speciality pasta version is £17.95 and if you prefer a chicken dish it’s £19.95).
The Pine Marten
The Pine Marten is gorgeous, have you been in since the makeover?
Their kids starters are £2.50, mains are £8.50 and desserts are £3.50.
It’s easy to park, has some lovely dishes for the grown ups and offers one of my favourite things; mini desserts with coffee. I wish every restaurant in Harrogate offered this.
Zizzi’s
I like to include as many local independents as I can on the blog but I think Zizzi’s deserves a mention here. Their Bambini menu is 3 courses for £8.50.

Plenty of choice for the grown ups and if you have a Taste Card you can get 2 for 1 on adults courses – Bonus. Plus I’m a sucker for restaurants with trees in.. just me?!
Hotel Du Vin
This one is by request of Izzy! She loves a steak and there aren’t many restaurants that have steak on the kids menus.
As a parent paying for said steak, it’s nice to see smaller steaks on kids menus because otherwise dinner can cost a small fortune.
The steak at Hotel du Vin was the ‘best she’s ever had’ and she’s constantly asking to go back. So for that reason alone it deserves a place on the blog.
Kids starters and desserts are £4.00 each and mains range from £8.50 to £10.95.
I hope that helps when trying to decide where to eat in Harrogate with kids. This by all means is not a full list of all the child friendly restaurants in Harrogate, if there’s anywhere that you think should be on the list let me know!
