When it comes to Sunday Lunch venues, Harrogate does not disappoint. Whether you prefer a traditional pub setting, elegant restaurant or carvery style, we’ve put together our top choices to help take the guesswork out of finding the perfect Sunday roast in Harrogate.
I’ve tried to list each restaurant’s price for a beef dinner and any kids portions so it’s easy to compare costs. This list is something we will keep adding to as we find more little gems in the area. If you know of somewhere please feel free the get in touch, we love to discover new places.
The Curious Cow
Skipton Road, Killinghall, HG3 2AP
If you’re a regular to the blog you’ll know we do love a visit to the Curious Cow. It’s our local and they have a great menu.
A typical beef dinner is £19.50
Kids roasts are available for £9.29
The Nelson Inn
Skipton Road, Harrogate, HG3 2BU
Recently refurbished, The Nelson Inn is a gorgeous country pub but not too far out of town. During the warmer weather you can take advantage of their large outdoor seating area. In the colder months get cosy inside next to the fire.
A typical beef dinner costs £33.95.
A Kids portion is £14.95.
The West Park
19 West Park, Harrogate, HG1 1BJ
If you’re looking for a town centre location this could be for you. The West Park has a stylish interior and a ‘Love Island-esqe’ courtyard to the rear.
They’ve recently added Sunday lunch sharing boards to their menu which are carved right by your table. The pork and chicken are slightly cheaper but the beef was well worth the extra.
A typical Beef dinner is £23.95
The beef sharing board is £75 for 2 people
Carters at The Majestic Hotel
Ripon Road, Harrogate, HG1 2HU
Sorry it’s actually called ‘Carters Champagne Bar and Grill at the Doubletree by Hilton Majestic Hotel’ but I refuse to write all that in the heading!
I didn’t expect too much when we went for Sunday lunch recently, not in a bad way, just that I never expect too much from big hotels. The Majestic however changed my opinion. The beef was tender, the gravy was the best I’ve ever had and not to mention that they offer bottomless Yorkshire puddings (something that I think everywhere should offer).
1 course is £14.95, 2 courses are £19.95, three courses £24.95.
The Inn at South Stainley
A61, South Stainley, Harrogate, HG3 3ND
Our most recent Sunday lunch find is The Inn at South Stainley. The last time I visited it had a wacky warehouse, it couldn’t be more different now.
They have a great selection on the menu and I like that you can opt to have all 4 meats if you’re feeling extra hungry!
A beef dinner costs £19.95
A children's portion is £9.95.
Amber’s
Cedar Court Hotel, Park Parade, Harrogate HG1 5AH
Amber’s at the Cedar Court hotel if fast becoming a firm favourite. I love the interior, the staff are great and the food is beautifully presented PLUS it’s really good value!
They offer 2 courses for £28 and three courses for £35. There doesn’t seem to be a single course however? If you are local (HG1/HG2) they also run the Friends of Amber’s club which will get you a tidy 20% off!
The Castle Inn
35 High Street, Spofforth, HG3 1BQ
The Castle Inn is a favourite stop off of ours when we've been out Wetherby/A1 way. They always do a fab roast and most of their ingredients are sourced locally.
A beef Sunday dinner is £22.00
The George
Wormald Green, HG3 3PR
It wouldn't be a Sunday roast list without a carvery offering would it?
There's not many around this area but they are always a firm favourite. The prices shown are for Sundays but these are available all week long and are slightly cheaper if you visit midweek.
Adult carveries are £15.95
Childrens are £7.95
Pine Marten
Otley Road, HG3 1UE
The Pine Marten is a classic country pub located just around the corner from Harlow Carr gardens. It has a great beer garden too if you are eating there in the warner months.
Their beef roast is £21.95 for adults
Childrens portions are available for £10.50
Mucky Duck
17 Devonshire Place, HG1 4AA
A firm favourite with locals. The Mucky Duck offers good wholesome food all week but come into their own on a Sunday. Now, you can get a standard roast but my absolute favourite has to be their gravy fondue! Small pieces of roast potatoes, beef, Yorkshires, sausages etc and a hot pot of gravy for dipping.
A standard beef roast is £19.95
The Fondue is £14.95
Inn on Cheltenham Parade
26-30 Cheltenham Parade, HG1 1DB
Perfect venue if you're looking for a Sunday lunch in Harrogate town centre....and they offer bottomless Yorkshires.
Their beef Sunday roasts are £22.00
Coach & Horses
16 West Park, HG1 1BJ
The Coach & Horses is a relaxed, family run pub also in the centre of Harrogate. Situated with great views overlooking the Stray.
A beef dinner is £18.95
Johnny's Bar & Parlour
30-31 Montpellier Parade, HG1 2TG
This is a brand new opening in Harrogate which we are yet to visit but the word on the street is that the food is amazing and they have a very talented chef.
Their Sunday lunch is £35 for 2 courses and £ 40 for 3 courses
General Tarleton
Harrogate Road, Ferrensby, HG5 0PZ
Once a well loved country pub, it lay empty for a while but now it's back with a bang! Their menu is produce led featuring seasonal dishes, pub classics and hearty offerings from the grill.
Their beef Sunday roast is £33.00
Kids portions available for £12.95
Carriages
87-89 High Street, Knaresborough, HG5 0HL
Carriages is favourite with locals and their property is over 400 years old offering dining with character. It's proudly independent offering great roasts as well as classic gastro pub food with a modern twist.
Their Sunday lunch is £20 for 1 course, £26 for 2 courses and £32 for 3 courses (the beef dinner is a £3 supplement)
