Here’s 8 of the Best Pumpkin picking patches near Harrogate. This year I have separated the Halloween blogs because there's so much to talk about! So head here if you are looking for Halloween Activities for Kids in Harrogate.
Birchfield Farm

Where is it?: HG3 4JS
When is it?: Full Pumpkin Festival runs 27th & 28th September, 4th & 5th October, 11th & 12th October, 18th & 19th October then 25th – 31st October. Mid week they are open too Tuesday – Friday (partial festival, not all activities will be running) 10-4pm.
Do I need to book?: No booking required.
How much will it cost me?: Pumpkins range from £2.50 to £12 each.
I love the fact that if you’re just pumpkin picking it’s free to enter, you just pay for what you pick. We picked 3 pumpkins which came to £12 which is dear if you compare them to the shops but its all about the whole experience in my opinion and can provide a cheap day out if you’re on a budget.
There is a little play park just by the entrance to the fields which is free and there are plenty of props dotted around the fields, perfect for photo opportunities!
Once you’re there and into the swing of things it’s hard to resist not going into the farm itself. Entrance is £8.95pp no matter what age and allows you to see all the animals as well as access to the bouncy castles, sand pit and more play areas.
There’s something for all ages at Birchfield which is great if you are taking a mix of toddlers and older children.
Yolk Farm

YO51 9HY – Weekends in early October then daily from 25th – 31st. 10am – 3pm.
The bonus about visiting Yolk is that they have a dedicated carving area with all the tools and decorations you might need, most importantly it means all the mess stays there and not all over your kitchen table!
There are also plenty of animals to see and don’t forget to feed the pigs! The goats are my favourite though, there’s always at least one up to mischief, climbing where it shouldn’t or eating the hedges or fencing lol.
Entrance is £6.50 per pumpkin picker and that includes a medium pumpkin. Entry is free if you’re not picking a pumpkin. Or you can book with Yard entry for £9.95. Booking advised.
Pop Up Patch
YO61 1EN – Weekends in early October then daily from 17th – 31st. 10am – 3pm.
The Pop Up Patch is a cute little place just on the outskirts of York. There is a small playground and café on site too. They also offer a maize maze, pick your own potatoes, sweetcorn and a carving tent. We recently visited to pick sunflowers, the pumpkins were coming along nicely in the field opposite.
Entry is £1.50pp and pumpkins are sold separately. Booking available online.
Yorkshire Pumpkins

YO61 2RN – 4th & 5th, 11th & 12th, 18th & 19th October and then every day 23rd until 31st October.
Another YO postcode! Is there super pumpkin growing soil in York? Well actually this one is more towards Boroughbridge..
Izzy and I LOVED Yorkshire Pumpkins. The variety of pumpkins was incredible and they are all planted and grown on site by the lovliest family.
There’s a very reasonably priced café on site and a pizza van as well as play areas for the kids and places for photo opportunities. Pumpkin bowling was great fun!
Entry to Yorkshire Pumpkins is £2pp and must be booked in advance. Their pumpkins range from £1 to £10 depending on the size.
Spilmans
YO7 3NB – Pumpkin Festival starts 27th September
A little bit further a field but I’ve heard Spilman’s is one of the best places to go.
Some of my friends won’t go anywhere else.
This year they are also offering ‘Pumpkin Nights’. Street food, live music and bar. I won’t lie, I like the sound of that but it would probably have to be a girl date because my other half is boring ha ha.
Tickets from £7.50 which include £5 voucher to use towards your pumpkin purchase. Booking required.
Mallard Grange

HG4 3BE – Open weekends from 27th September to 26th October 10am – 4pm
Mallard Grange is quite new, you’ll find them opposite Fountains Abbey. Izzy and I have been to pick their wildflowers and tulips and had great fun both times. It’s another family run farm who have diversified which I love to support wherever possible.
There’s no booking required and pumpkins range from £2.50 to £12.
The Hidden Flowering Farm
HG5 0RH – Open every day 10-4. See their Instagram for all the details.

Brand new this year is the Hidden Flowering Farm near Knaresborough. Their PYO flowers look amazing so I’m sure the pumpkin patch will be just as good!
Blooming Sheep
HG3 1EZ – Open every day from October 17th to 1st November
Another newbie this year is Blooming Sheep. This summer they’ve offered flower picking and afternoon tea with their Valais Blacknose Sheep. These guys are super cute and cuddly, I met them outside Mama Doreen’s at Easter.

This is their first year and they are offering pumpkin picking, meet the sheep, Mama Doreen’s takeaway afternoon teas, face painting, marshmallow toasting and some spooky surprises.
