Nestled in the heart of North Yorkshire, the charming town of Harrogate is renowned for its therapeutic spa waters and tranquil atmosphere. If you’re seeking a blissful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Harrogate is the perfect destination.
In this blog post, I explore some of the best spas in Harrogate, where you can indulge in luxurious treatments, unwind in serene surroundings, and emerge feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
The Harrogate Spa
Set within the iconic Majestic Hotel, the spa has recently has a huge refurb and is looking amazing. I went recently and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The changing rooms were the cleanest of all the spas featured and included hair dryers and straighteners which is always a bonus.
They offer a fantastic range of treatments and packages including:
Morning spa packages including Afternoon Tea and a treatment from £115pp
Afternoon spa packages including Afternoon Tea and a treatment from £115pp
Twilight spa packages including charcuterie sharing board from £65pp
Rasul spa packages including afternoon tea from £95pp
ESPA facial treatments from £75
ESPA massages and body treatments from £80
Manicures and pedicures from £65
Spa breaks from £139pp (check Wowcher as they sometimes appear on there!)
The pool is a good size (12.5m) and along the poolside there is a Himalayan salt sauna, experience shower, eucalyptus steam room and spa pool which are all included in any of their packages. In the warmer weather you can also relax in the new hot tub found in the Zen Garden.

The Harrogate Fam Rating : 8.5/10
Pros: Easy to get to and park, beautiful setting, friendly staff, clean facilities, good choice of experiences.
Cons: When busy you might struggle to get a lounger by the pool. Our treatments weren’t at the same time so both of us had time by ourselves by the pool.
Rudding Park
Rudding Park’s indulgent and award winning roof top spa is something else! I’ve been a few times now and there’s nothing quite like it in the area.
There is a huge choice of packages and treatments including:

The roof top spa has so many areas to explore and because it’s quite spread out meaning that even when it’s busy it doesn’t feel it.
There is a 11m hydrotherapy infinity pool which is certainly the star of the show, a panoramic sauna, herbal steam room, outdoor spa pool, luxury steam room, foot spas, experience showers, tranquillity room, sunlight therapy and an oxygen pod!

The Harrogate Fam Rating: 9.5/10
Pros: Stunning location and facilities you won’t find anywhere else, never feels too busy, fantastic reputation, some good deals available (Supper and spa deals are really good value for money)
Cons: On my last visit the changing rooms and showers were messy and dirty in areas which is not what you would expect, treatments can be pricey and only 1 of our 3 digital keys actually worked to open doors and lockers.
The Turkish Baths
Step back in time and immerse yourself in the opulent Victorian surroundings of the Turkish Baths and Health Spa.
This historic spa, dating back to 1897, features beautifully tiled steam rooms, a plunge pool, and a relaxation area. Treat yourself to a traditional Turkish bathing ritual or indulge in a massage or facial for the ultimate pampering experience.

You can chose a session in the Turkish Baths, from a large range of treatments or combine the two for a fully indulgent visit. Here’s just a selection of what’s on offer:
Monday – Thursday Turkish Baths experiences from £27

The Turkish Baths in Harrogate is ideally situated if you are staying in the town centre although it doesn’t have its own car park, there is plenty of on street parking nearby.
How do the Turkish Baths Work?
The treatments are quite self explanatory but some people aren’t sure what to expect at a session in the Turkish Baths; Your experience starts in the Frigidarium (shown in the right hand side pictures), this is the coolest of the rooms and used to help you acclimatise as you are starting or finishing your session.
There are then three other heated rooms which increase in temperature, from 40 to 70 degrees Celsius, as you move along. The idea is that in between each room you take a bracing dip in the plunge pool. This journey of heating and cooling the body promotes a sense of relaxation and a clear mind.
There is also a steam room and hot and cold showers available too. I absolutely love the Turkish Baths and often treat myself to a solo visit if I need to escape reality for an afternoon but if I’m totally honest, I’ve never braved the plunge pool when I’m not with friends, I need encouragement and a cheeky push lol. When I’m there by myself I will just be brave under one of the cold showers instead!
The Harrogate Fam Rating: Spa:8/10Turkish Baths 10/10
Pros: If you are looking for an escape more than a certain treatment the Turkish Baths offers the best value for money and the grandeur of the building just adds to the whole experience.
Cons: I keep forgetting about the Spa Room and they never offer it to you so I am yet to visit that part. There are no separate showers so make sure you take shampoo and conditioner with you and have a quick wash in the shower area outside the steam room before your session finishes.
The Three Graces Spa at Grantley Hall
Now I’ll be honest, I haven’t been lucky enough to try this one yet and believe me I’m desperate to because they have a SNOW ROOM!!

I haven’t personally visited the spas below (yet!), but they come highly recommended and are well worth a look if you’re planning a treat day or spa break in Yorkshire and beyond.
The Bridge Inn, Wetherby
A cosy spa option tucked away just outside Wetherby, The Bridge Inn is known for its relaxed atmosphere and smaller, more intimate spa facilities. It’s a lovely choice if you’re after a low-key spa day without travelling far, at around 25 minutes from Harrogate.
Aldwark Manor
Set in peaceful countryside just outside York, Aldwark Manor is known for its relaxed spa, Salus, riverside walks and luxury feel without being stuffy. A great option if you want a calm escape that still feels close to home, at around 30 minutes from Harrogate.
Swinton Estate & Country Club
Swinton Estate offers a seriously impressive spa experience, with indoor and outdoor thermal areas, beautiful views and a strong focus on wellbeing. It’s ideal for a full spa day or special overnight stay, around 40 minutes from Harrogate.
Rockliffe Hall
One of the North’s most well-known luxury spa destinations, Rockliffe Hall is all about indulgence. Expect top level facilities, elegant surroundings and a real ‘treat yourself’ atmosphere, around 1 hour 15 minutes from Harrogate.
